Presentation
- individual (men’s and women’s)
- by section (for Polytechnique engineering students and their coaches only)
- by teams of your own design
-
The first is an individual event based on the notion of versus, i.e. two participants competing on the same course at the same time. This is a race of speed: the fastest wins, the slowest is eliminated. Time may also be taken into account.
-
The second event is in teams of 6, based on a relay: each team is divided into three pairs, and completes the course two by two. Teams compete against each other head-to-head: the first team to complete the round wins, but in this case the overall success criterion is time.
As the name suggests, this is a 24-hour event, taking place at the École polytechnique’s nautical center. Organized yearly until 2020, our next edition will take place on November 20th and 21st 2024, from 6pm to 6pm.
It is a fundraising event in which we will convert all kilometers swum by participants into donations to the Tara Océan association. One of the pools will be dedicated to swimming, while the other will host different events such as a waterpolo tournament and a military swimming obstacle course.
For 24 hours, the binet will be on duty at one of the pools, where all the laps swum will be recorded. Whether you are an experienced long-distance swimmer who has already crossed the Channel, or you like to splash around during heatwaves, come and take part in our collective effort to protect the oceans!
All you need to do is bring your swimsuit and your motivation, all swim strokes are allowed.
By the end of the day, distances are scored to establish 3 distinct rankings:
Awards will be given to the top participants in the first two rankings. The team competition is purely for fun, so don’t hesitate to bring your friends along and take on the challenge together!
Registration is available here, on this website!
The water polo tournament is open to everyone, whether you’ve never heard of this sport or are an experienced polo player.
Water polo is a ball sport, quite similar to handball, played in the water with a lot of contact, like rugby. You are not allowed to touch the bottom of the pool or hold the edges. The aim is to score goals with your team of 7 players (6 on the pitch and one in goal).

Register here! (1 entry per team)
The military swimming obstacle course consists of two separate events, which may be entered separately or simultaneously.
No previous experience of military swimming is required to successfully complete the course, but it is worth remembering that this is an event carried out in military fatigues (top and bottom), without goggles (unless contraindicated) or caps.
Register via this form! (1 answer for individual registration and/or 1 answer per team)
As the 24h de la natation takes place during the SEVE (Semaine de l’éveil écologique et du vivre ensemble, a week dedicated to raising awareness about climate change issues and living together in a changing environment), in collaboration with NeXt, we will donate to the Fondation Tara Océan.
This NGO works towards preserving the Ocean and its biodiversity. It is the first public interest foundation in France dedicated to the Ocean. Since 2003, it has been leading scientific expeditions to study marine biodiversity, observe and anticipate the impacts of climate change and pollution. Its mission is to spread knowledge about the Ocean, while raising awareness of its importance in everyday life among decision-makers, the general public and young people. Thanks to its Special Observer Status at the UN, it actively participates in crucial decisions for the Ocean.
